Contract Publishing

Diamond Publications has published the following commissioned titles: The Editor and the State (2013) and The Media and the Legislature (2000) for the Nigerian Guild of Editors; Population, Development and the Media, (2003) for the United Nations Population Fund and the News Agency of Nigeria.

She has also consulted for the Federal Ministry of Information on such programmes as fashioning out a workable Press Council (1992) for the country, agreeing on the Consensus Bill of 2002 to moderate the excesses of the 1999 Amendment Act to the Press Council Law of 1992. She also participated in drafting an editorial policy for the News Agency of Nigeria (2008). She consulted for the firm of G. M. Ibru & Co in organising a seminar on The Law of Defamation and Challenges in the Face of Rapid Developments in ICT in 2012 and published its proceedings in 2013 into a book of same title.

 

Events Management

She has organised to date twenty two editions of the acclaimed Diamond Awards for Media Excellence, which honours superior performance in the media. DAME is Africa’s oldest and most consistent media award.

Her book presentations have also benefitted from close attention to detail; good choice of personnel and venues, and effective coordination of activities, publicity and time management, which are hallmarks of successful events. The company was pivotal to the successful hosting of the 140th anniversary of the Nigerian Press in 1999 in Abeokuta, birth home of the Nigerian press.

 

Training and Consulting

Diamond Publications has organised and participated in various training programmes to enhance the capacity of media professionals. She is a long-standing consultant to the Nigerian Press Council, which organises at least two training workshops annually since 1992.

She handled a Media outreach for Shell Petroleum Development Company in 1999 at Port Harcourt, which entailed coordinating a tour of community-based projects, and debriefing the 20 participating journalists. Diamond Publications also served as facilitators at another Shell Media outreach in Akodo, Lagos state, in 2007 designed to redirect Oil sector reporters’ news judgment. In 2010, she handled the nationwide recruitment of 200 employees for the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos and Abuja, which entailed advertising, short listing, administering a written selection test, interviewing and recommending successful candidates for employment.
